The 1920's were the beginning when men and woman started to participate in sports such as  swimming, golf, tennis, yachting and polo.  The realization that more comfort was to be provided for the athletes so new styles of sportswear were designed that was easier to move around in. Just the same as today in the 1920's the young were influenced by the style trends sportswear designs reflected the spirited and self conscious of the decade.
Tennis players were inspired by Jean René Lacoste (a French tennis star) to wear polo shirts with embroidered crocodile logos. Stylish golfers would wear loose-fitting pants ending just above the knee and diamond shaped patterned socks.
Woman's sportswear followed more of a male look. In tennis woman wore pleated knee-length skirts with sleeveless white tops.
